“You can’t get at the thing itself, the real nature of the sitter, by stripping away the surface. The surface is all you’ve got. You can only get beyond the surface by working with the surface. All that you can do is manipulate that surface–gesture, costume, expression–radically and correctly.”
-Richard Avedon

Love these, love Avedon. Never heard that quote before, but adore I really like what he’s getting at.
(this is Alison, by the way)
Sometimes I am like “I WILL DEAL WITH ALL THE INTERNET WHEN I AM AT WORK” and then I forgot about things. like this comment. The quote was actually in the intro for an Egon Schiele book interestingly enough.
I miss you and we still should figure out some hang time. <3
I also forgot about it, actually! what a nice surprise. i also somehow fool myself into thinking that i will fit ALL MY INTERNETTING into the 5-7 hours in which I am at work, even though 1) I am too lazy to attend to most things and 2) I have to actually *do work* while at work.
I miss you too! Next week sometime, perhaps? shoot me a text/message of some type!
PS: not sure it’s not displaying this way, but i’m logged in as my wordpress account. i did not just randomly pick to respond to your comment as “itsmetheinternet,” but in fact that is the name of my stupid blog. it refers to this: http://itsmetheinternet.wordpress.com/
i’ve been meaning to write more, actually — peruse if you desire.
